Coalition against the constitutional discrimination “Equality”, as part of its activities on the promotion of\u00a0the constitutional changes that would eliminate the constitutional discrimination, began a series of meetings\u00a0with all relevant local and international officials.<\/p>\n

One of the first meetings, in the series, is the expert group meeting with the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina,\u00a0which had been tasked by the Ambassador Patrick Moon to work on the preparation of proposals for the reform\u00a0of the Federation.<\/p>\n

As has been previously known, an expert group consists of the first president of Federation\u00a0Kre\u0161imir\u00a0Zubak,\u00a0who is now engaged with lawyers in practice, university professors Mile\u00a0Lasi\u0107,\u00a0Kasim\u00a0Trnka\u00a0and\u00a0Mirjana\u00a0Nada\u017edin-Defterdarevi\u0107\u00a0and former member of the Central Election Commission and civil activists\u00a0Vehid\u00a0\u0160ehi\u0107.<\/p>\n

Representatives of the coalition “Equality” agreed with the expert group that the reform the Federation\u00a0must be guided by the principles of efficiency, functionality and cost savings, and they also\u00a0introduced minimum requirements which the Coalition advocating:<\/p>\n

– Constitutional changes in the Federation of\u00a0BiH\u00a0must bring\u00a0equal rights for all citizens of the Federation of\u00a0BiH, specially for those who do not identify themselves as members\u00a0of constituent peoples;<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Any reform of ethnic rights in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina must not introduce new discriminatory measures or omit the principle of equality for \u201cOthers\u201d;<\/p>\n

– The reform of the constitution and the law at all levels should lead to reduction and clear definition of collective\u00a0rights and to strengthen the rights of the individuals in the context of the European Convention on Human Rights\u00a0and Civil Liberties<\/p>\n

– \u00a0Reform of the Constitution of the Federation of the\u00a0BiH,\u00a0and all those laws which in themselves have elements of discrimination based on ethnicity is necessary<\/p>\n

– Reform of the constitution of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has to deal with the reform\u00a0of the cantonal constitutions, and local self-governing, to achieve on all those levels substantive equality and full\u00a0equal rights of all citizens of Federation of\u00a0BiH\u00a0who don’t identify themselves as members of constituent people;<\/p>\n

– All future changes must be fully applied in practice on a non-discriminatory manner.<\/p>\n
