Za\u0161to ne \/ SEECheck Network, in cooperation with ASUBiH and with the support of the European Union, is organizing a conference on media literacy that will take place on 29 September 2020 in a form of hybrid event taking place at three locations – Sarajevo, Banjaluka and Brussels, as well as online.<\/span><\/p>\n

The EU-Western Balkans Media Literacy Conference “Media Literacy and the Fight against Disinformation in a Pandemic”, happening on September 29, 2020, will be a hybrid event to be held at three locations – in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Brussels – while guest participation and the audience will be mostly online, given the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n

The conference is organized by the <\/span>Association of Citizens “Why not”<\/span><\/a> on behalf of the <\/span>SEECheck network<\/span><\/a>, in cooperation with the<\/span> Association of High School Students in BiH<\/span><\/a> and with the support of the <\/span>European Union<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are pleased to announce a number of prominent speakers who will cover topics related to media literacy, science and information literacy, journalism, fact-checking, disinformation and related policies, in three panels.<\/span><\/p>\n

The speakers, each from their own angle, will especially focus on the impact that the pandemic has had on their related fields.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The main panels at the conference will cover the following topics:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Media literacy and anti-disinformation policies<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The impact of the pandemic on media literacy and media credibility\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Media literacy and youth<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    At the opening ceremony, we will host Johann Sattler, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Josep Borrell, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, and Darko Brkan, President of the Citizens’ Association Why not.<\/p>\n

    At the “Brussels” panel, we will host, among others, Tonino Picula, a member of the European Parliament from Croatia and Radmila \u0160ekerinska, the Minister of Defense of Northern Macedonia.<\/span><\/p>\n
