Digital Policy

Within this program, UG “Zašto ne”, together with partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, and Europe, works to create and promote a credible, safe, inclusive and fair online environment in the digital age.

Our activities in this area focus on advocating for the improvement of legal and regulatory frameworks, as well as institutional practices and initiatives related to the digital space.

Our objectives include strengthening the integrity of information and reducing information manipulation and disinformation, enhancing social and individual resilience and security, and ensuring accountability and transparency of online platforms and other actors in the digital space in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans.

We aim to achieve these objectives through research and analysis of regulations, trends, and actors in the digital environment; regional cooperation with civil society organizations, media, academia, institutions, and the business sector; informing and mobilizing citizens; and targeted advocacy activities directed at institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, and the European Union, as well as online platforms and other relevant stakeholders.

We place particular focus on:

  • alignment with European Union digital legislation and policies, such as the Digital Services Act, the Digital Markets Act, the AI Act, the European Media Freedom, and others,
  • the inclusion of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region in initiatives that contribute to these objectives, such as the European Democracy Shield,
  • supporting the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU digital single market, with the active participation of civil society in shaping and monitoring these processes.

Some of our advocacy activities in this area are carried out under the Ignita initiative, with support from OSF Western Balkans. You can read more about the project here.
