The Digital Transformation Forum in Bucharest
Our representative, Tijana Cvijetićanin attended Digital Transformation Forum, that took place in Bucharest, Romania from 3th to 4th of May 2018.
The Digital Transformation Forum, named Governance x Watchdogs focuses on ways digital information technologies are contributing to better governance but also to the work of media and civil society watchdogs, making sure that policies and their implementation serve the people.
Government representatives, journalists, civil society experts, and communication professionals had an opportunity to interact with peers attending from over 30 countries for 2 days of sessions, focusing on more efficient and honest governments, effective media and civic activism. Forum focused on issues such as digital outreach strategies, tools for government transparency and accountability, truth seeking instruments, e-government programs, open data, strategic plans for social media, Internet governance, anti-corruption practices, and mobile and participatory journalism, and many others.
Forum hosted speakers from all over the world, such as CNN, Mother Jones, Poynter Institute, Politifact, and PeaceTech Exchanges. Regional experts include DigitalFreedomLab from Belarus, the Estonian Information System Authority, the Italian Institute for Social Assistance, Kloop social media in Kyrgyzstan, TechSoup from Poland, the Serbian Justice Department, Transparency International Slovakia, Mykolayiv Center for Investigative Reporting in Ukraine, South and Eastern European Dialogue on Internet Governance and many others.
The forum is funded by the U.S. Department of State Office of Citizen Exchanges and organized by the Digital Communication Network (DCN), the Romanian-American University and World Learning with support from the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest.
