The work of “Raskrinkavanje” verified by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN)

The “fact-checking” platform “Raskrinkavanje” is now a verified member of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN).

The IFCN was founded by the Poynter Institute in 2015 with an aim to support the wave of new fact-checking initiatives around the world, and the network currently gathers 67 fact-checking organizations, including initiatives such as the “The Washington Post Fact Checker”, “Snopes” and “AP Fact Check” from the United States, “Full Fact” from the UK, “Libération Désintox” and “AFP Factuel” from France, the international initiative “Africa Check” and many others.

In the previous period the media fact-checking organisation “Raskrinkavanje” passed through a very detailed application process and a thorough check of its mode of operation. On March 2nd this fact-checking platform officially became a verified member of the network, thus committing to follow the five principles of the IFCN Code of Conduct:

  • Nonpartisanship and Fairness
  • Transparency of Sources
  • Transparency of Funding & Organization
  • Transparency of Methodology
  • Open & Honest Corrections Policy

Once the application and the platform itself had been evaluated and approved by the IFCN Board, the work of “Raskrinkavanje” has been rated as high quality, impartial and transparent. In addition to the “Raskrinkavanje”, IFCN members are also regional initiatives like “Istinomjer.ba”, “Istinomer.rs” and “Faktograf.hr”.

Emir Zulejhić appeared on the “N1” channel and talked about the benefits of the membership as well as the potential future co-operations via IFCN, and video is available HERE.
