POINT 6.0 conference started

Presenting the ActionSEE network and awarding the Balkan Award for “fact-checking” today, in Sarajevo’s Art Cinema Kriterion opened the sixth edition of the POINT Conference, which will gather civil society representatives from Southeast and East Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and all over the world.

The conference was officially opened by Darko Brkan, President of CA “Why not,” with representatives of ActionSEE network, Milica Kovacevic from the Center for Democratic Transition of Montenegro, Pavel Dimitrijevic from the organization CRTA from Belgrade and Tamar Rasevski from the Metamorphosis Foundation.

Congratulations to the participants of the conference were also sent by Anna Sienicka from Techsoupa and Krzysztof Izdebski from the Polish ePaństwo Foundation, whose organizations together with Action SEE make the TransparentCEE network.

“The TransparentCEE network is conceived as a platform for the exchange of experiences from organizations from Eastern and Southeastern Europe, as well as seeking solutions to the problem faced by the countries from which network member organizations come from. The network is open and all interested organizations can be involved in its work, “said Izdebski, who also announced a workshop that will be held on Saturday, May 27, from 10 am to 6 pm in the premises of” Networks “.

The first Balkan “fact-checking” award was won by Aleksandar Brezar from BiH for the text on illegal construction within the water protection zone of the Željeznica River; And Vladimir Kostić and Ivana Jeremić from the Serbian CINS, for the text “The state helped Pink with 3.9 million euros” and “Pink received at least seven million euros from the state loan”. Winners pointed out that it is their honor to be the first winners of this award in the region. The award was presented to Aida Ajanović from Istinomjera and Petar Vidov from Faktograf, two fact checking portal from BiH and Croatia.

The official opening of the conference was also hosted by Aldin Vrškić and Boris Čović, editors of BH. Satirical characters karakter.ba and Satro.info, whose satirical news will be announced this year, panel discussions and presentations at the conference.

“We decided to use the form of satire in our work in order to improve media literacy in BiH, ie to make the public more critical of what it receives as information,” said Boris Čović, editor of the Satro.info portal.

POINT 6.0 conference is organized by ACTION SEE network, comprised of CA “Why Not” from BiH, the Center for Respondent Transparency Responsibility from Serbia, the Foundation Metamorphosis from Macedonia and the Center for Democratic Transition from Montenegro, Westminster Foundation for Democracy, Open Data Kosovo and Mjaft from Albania.
