“The accountability of government, civil society and new technologies – POINT 2.1” is the name of the conference that will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23, in Sarajevo at the Center for Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies (University Campus, Street Zmaja od Bosne bb).
The conference organized by UG “Zašto ne” and Friedrich Ebert Foundation, begins at 9.30 am and is open to everybody interested in the topic.
This conference is organized by UG “Zašto ne” in addition to the annual “POINT” conference, which, since 2012 aims at sharing experiences of civil society in the context of the use of new technologies in its work for democratization, promotion of accountability and transparency of government and civic activism.
For this one-day event, similarly to the previous editions of POINT, the goal will be to work with the participants from the civil society organizations from the region on the above mentioned issues, as well as to exchange ideas and views on those topics. The conference will be divided into three panel discussions, during which the representatives of the civil society sector will discuss the following areas:
– Public campaigns for monitoring of government and elections;
– Public campaigns for citizens’ participation;
– Open government in the region.
The representatives of civil society organizations from the region that have been participating in the first two POINT conferences will be the speakers and participants of the event and will include organizations such as Windmill from Croatia, CRTA from Serbia, UG “Zašto ne”, CCI and Revolt from Bosnia and Herzegovina or Metamorphosis and Most from Macedonia.
The conference will be an occasion to present some of the most interesting projects from the region created and held by the civil society organizations. Among others one can learn more about the Istinomjer that is implemented in five countries of the region, the project about public procurement held by Windmill from Croatia or get to know the tools for monitoring of the authorities created by CCI from BiH. All the presented projects are aiming at using new technologies for the advocacy of greater transparency, accountability and openness of government.
